Saxoprint is one of the leading online print shops in Europe - also thanks to its high-quality machinery. The company also places corresponding demands on its packaging line. print products is a fast, smooth and largely Automated further processing at the end of which Stable packages are still in place. For this reason, the Dresden print shop gradually switched its machines to models from Mosca GmbH, based in Waldbrunn.
More than 4,000 print jobs From classic flyers to printed deckchairs, the Saxoprint print shop processes all types of products every day - seven days a week, around the clock. The packaging process differs depending on the type of product.
In the case of paper, they are often packed in parcels weighing up to 30 kilograms and strapped four times with plastic straps for better stability. Logistics service providers then deliver them to the customer's doorstep.
Fully automatic for standard formats
Paper products in standard formats such as flyers are packaged in one of three standard packs. This process has been running for around two years. Fully automatic process A sensor on the strapping machine recognises which of the sizes is involved, and strapped at the corresponding position. To do this, the machine must be very robust and also secure packages that come in at a slight angle precisely for transport, otherwise downtimes can occur.

With non-standardised package sizes an employee temporarily removes the parcel from the line and straps it Semi-automatic at the touch of a button on a table machine. This process must also be carried out quickly so as not to slow down the finishing process unnecessarily. The strapping machines in the Saxoprint line were no longer up to these challenges.

Certainty through practical tests
Saxoprint then looked for Alternatives initially for semi-automatic strapping. Following market research and subsequent personal discussions with various manufacturers, the print service provider started a test with four machines.
The clear favourite was the Model EVOLUTION SoniXs MP-6 T from Mosca out. The reliability of the machine was particularly impressive: In six months of test operation, it was regularly serviced once, unscheduled There were no cancellations. Saxoprint then decided to Purchase of four EVOLUTION SoniXs MP-6 T with different frame sizes.
„For various reasons, we made a conscious decision to start with the Replace table models“, explains Ijad Nestler. „On the one hand Less investment and fewer interventions into the line. Secondly, we have found that if the processes for special sizes work without any problems, they also work smoothly for standard sizes.“

Step by step to a stable package
The four Mosca devices proved so successful that Saxoprint also converted the machines to fully automatic strapping around six months later. The print shop opted for the Model EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6 with integrated roller conveyor, which is particularly easy to integrate into existing conveyor technology.

In total four EVOLUTION SoniXs MS-6 machines in the production of Saxoprint. Two of each are set up in a row.
The first machine first straps twice, then the pack runs over a turning device and is strapped twice again in the other direction by the second machine. The patented SoniXs ultrasonic technology provides additional Tear resistance.
While conventional machines fuse the strapping with heat, the Mosca solutions, which bear the addition SoniXs in their name, work with a Ultrasonic unit. These aggregates seal the ends of the tape more evenly, so that the sealing point is almost as tear-resistant (85 per cent) as the tape material used. The Saxoprint items are therefore enormously stable despite their high weight.

Smooth processes
Also in matters of reliability is where the SoniXs MS-6 scores highly. The machine used in the past often failed to cope with parcels that enter the machine at a slight angle due to the conveyor technology or one-sided filling.
The Mosca solution also straps these parcels without any problems and thus ensures significantly Less downtime. With a high Frequency of ten to twelve packets per minute this added value quickly pays for itself.
Saxoprint has not only opted for machines from Mosca, but is also purchasing Tape material and services from the technology leader.
"The Manufacturer knows its machines simply the best. And sourcing products and services from a single source has another key advantage: we don't have to worry about the quality of every order, but rather about the quality of the service. can always rely on our partner Mosca."
