Biotechnologically produced medicines are becoming increasingly important. A development that poses completely new challenges not only for the pharmaceutical industry, but also for manufacturers of filling and packaging machines.

For many years, the aim was to produce frequently used drugs such as insulin or vaccines quickly and cost-effectively in large quantities, but today it is often small batches that need to be processed as efficiently as possible. In addition to fully automated high-performance systems, which are of course still in demand on the pharmaceutical market, pharmaceutical manufacturers are therefore increasingly looking for Small, flexible filling and packaging systems.

Smallest systems with flexible combination options

The packaging specialist Bausch+Ströbel Maschinenfabrik GmbH + Co KG, Ilshofen, will be presenting the solutions it offers in this area at this year's FachPack. On show will be the smallest systems, semi-automatic filling and packaging machines, which can be operated via touchscreen and are still suitable for use in the isolator, as they can easily withstand decontamination with hydrogen peroxide.

They are therefore also ideally suited for Combination with the flexible VarioSys production systemHere, a standardised isolator can be combined with a wide variety of machine modules. Several modules can also be combined to form a production line and supplemented with additional options such as freeze-drying or cleaning machines.

Digital solutions and services

New digital solutions are also a topic. Using the table-top machines on display, Bausch+Ströbel will be presenting the many possibilities that Augmented reality technology in customers' day-to-day production, whether in the context of operator training or maintenance.

In addition, the wide range of Services, B+S offers its customers: from pharmaceutical services and digital engineering to spare parts management.
