It is becoming increasingly important for manufacturers of branded goods to convey brand values and product characteristics in an emotional way and to really showcase them. To do this, they need cartons that support colourful and tactile experiences when making contact with the end consumer. With these needs in mind, Sappi is now presenting the next generation of its popular and proven Algro Design portfolio - with a further developed cartonboard variant and a name change.
For even more flexibility and design freedom, Sappi is expanding its range of high-quality cellulose cartons with an additional variant as of 1 October 2019: Algro Design Advanced.
This gives customers access to four different reverse side surfaces within the popular Algro Design portfolio - one more cardboard variant than before. The cartons differ with regard to the backstroke, The front sides are identical and always double-coated.
In the course of further development, the popular Paperboard Algro Design supplemented by the term „Nature. Sappi is thus emphasising the natural look of the uncoated reverse side and the haptic character even more clearly.
This type of specification is very much in demand today, as the reverse side of cardboard is increasingly being used as the outer side of folding cartons. The product itself and all properties remain identical.
Back can be used for brand communication
New to the portfolio is Algro Design Advanced, a further development of Algro Design Nature (formerly Algro Design). The lightly coated reverse side creates a new level of colour brilliance.
At 220 to 380 g/m², the range of grammages available is similar to that of Algro Design Nature. The specification and tolerance values are identical to those of Algro Design Nature, meaning that no adjustments need to be made to the physical values or for further processing.

The two cartons Algro Design Card and Algro Design Duo are available unchanged. They round off the new, more differentiated portfolio of Sappi Paperboard Algro Design for more design freedom on the reverse side surface.
