The new HiQ G2 machine generation from Herrmann Ultraschalltechnik GmbH & Co. KG offers relevant optimisations and innovations in terms of digitalisation and visualisation.

The company, which is based in Karlsbad, Baden-Württemberg, has realised a new and clearly structured control platform for ultrasonic welding, which makes setting up the process, production and maintenance considerably easier and reduces set-up time.

All components of the new machine, including the connected accessories, all process steps and sequences are mapped in detail as a digital twin in the software. Sensors, actuators and complex connected devices such as printers and scanners are also included.

The digital twin adapts the configuration and parameterisation of all components and functions to the needs of the operator, the application and the system. Even the welding process and the complete machine cycle can be modelled in the control platform and constantly monitored using the process data provided. The integration of upstream and downstream testing and additional options is much simpler - another step in the right direction. „Intelligent workplace of the future“.

RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) coded tools and automatically clamping devices make it easier for the customer to safe product change. This means that incorrect combinations of welding programme, oscillating structure and fixture are a thing of the past, as even the optimum start position for the respective application is automatically set by the system. This means that even with series machines batch size 1 realise economically.

A multi-level message management system informs the operator of errors in a clear and comprehensible way and provides simple tips on how to rectify them. The new control platform is set up in such a way that topics such as Predictive maintenance and data mining can be easily supplemented.
