Milliken at the K 2019: Optimising plastics

At K 2019 in Düsseldorf, Milliken Chemical will be showing how its plastic additives and colourants can be used with a view to a more circular economy.

Milliken Chemical, a business unit of the globally active Milliken & Company, focuses on optimising plastics through colour, environmental compatibility, transparency and increased performance. At K 2019, the company, based in Ghent, Belgium, will be demonstrating how its plastic additives and colourants can be used to strengthen the circular economy.

For example, the Millad® NX® 8000 Clarifier, designed for polypropylene (PP) plastics and used for almost 80 per cent of the polypropylene processed worldwide, converts PP into a Weight-saving and crystal-clear alternative to glass and increases its efficiency. Material processing at lower temperatures results in shorter cycle times and saves energy.

If you use NX® UltraClear™ PP, the injection-moulded packaging can be finished with a UL environmental validation label ECV (Environmental Claim Validation) to emphasise the commitment to a circular economy and the Goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions to show.

Additives, such as Hyperform® HPN™ nucleating agents for PP and polyethylene, increase the performance of the polymers modified with them and are suitable for Increased performance of recycled polypropylene (rPP). Compared to other nucleating agents, the new Hyperform HPN 175 presented at the trade fair offers a Higher heat resistance, which, among other things, enables the use of PP for heat-resistant containers.

DeltaMax™ performance modifiers increase the impact strength of rPP, blends and impact-resistant PP copolymers (IPC) and contribute to the circular economy. DeltaMax flow improvers can improve the Flowability of the plastic by up to five times without compromising impact strength or rigidity. Milliken's ClearShield™ UV absorber protects PET-packaged food, beverages and consumer goods from harmful UV radiation.

KeyPlast® colourants for plastics, suitable for many different polymer and plastic systems, can be used in liquid and solid masterbatches as well as in the production of plastics and compounds. They ensure stable and repeatable colours. ClearTint™ colourants will also be presented at the trade fair.
