Avery Dennison celebrates the official completion and opening of its expanded production facilities at the Rodange plant in Luxembourg.
The company has invested USD 65 million to increase its production capacity on the European continent. The investment is one of Avery Dennison's largest operational initiatives worldwide in recent years.
„The site expansion gives Avery Dennison a number of advantages in Europe,“ explains Tim Presto, Vice President of Supply Chain and Operations Europe at Avery Dennison. “It will make our production network more flexible and responsive, give us a higher coating capacity for top-coating and allow us to better cope with fluctuating customer demand.
In addition, with the modern systems and thanks to our central location in Europe achieve our sustainability goals more easily. We are closer to our customers, which reduces the amount of transport required within the production process, thereby minimising our CO2-footprint is minimised. But most importantly, the state-of-the-art machines and systems increase the quality of our products and maximise our production times at the same time.“
In Rodange the company now has a state-of-the-art Multifunctional coating system, The company has added a new packaging line, additional slitter rewinders and an automated warehouse.
The total space used was increased by more than 12,000 m² and optimised in terms of waste management, electricity consumption and water consumption with a view to sustainability. According to the company, a plant located closer to the customer is also expected to save 700 tonnes of greenhouse gases per year, as transport routes are shorter and the associated energy consumption is reduced.
