Thimm Packaging Systems intends to acquire ISL Schaumstoff-Technik GmbH from Viernheim in southern Hesse and ISL Verpackungstechnik GmbH from Serba in Thuringia. The ISL Group is recognised as a packaging specialist for foam and multi-material solutions.

Thimm Packaging Systems has announced its intention to take over two companies. The Northeim-based Thimm Group will then include ISL Schaumstoff-Technik GmbH from Viernheim in southern Hesse and ISL Verpackungstechnik GmbH from Serba in Thuringia. The Federal Cartel Office still has to approve the deal.
The ISL Group is regarded as a packaging specialist for foam and multi-material solutions for disposable and reusable applications as well as for technical moulded parts. The acquisition expands the portfolio to include the area of Multi-material packaging, it says at Thimm further. No details of the purchase price are provided.

Thimm and ISL have been working together since 2008
Thimm and the ISL Group have been working together as customers and suppliers since 2008. Like Thimm, ISL is also a family business. ISL specialises in the development and manufacture of foam moulded parts as well as Packaging solutions made of moulded foam and reusable twin-wall sheets. These products ideally complement Thimm's product portfolio, says the Northeim-based manufacturer.

Following the takeover of the ISL Group Thimm Packaging Systems will be represented with seven locations in Germany. The plants in Germersheim and Viernheim will then even benefit from logistical advantages, emphasises Jürgen Düvel, Managing Director of Thimm Packaging Systems, emphasised. According to Thimm, the previous five German sites and the plants in the Czech Republic and Mexico currently employ 922 people and generated sales of 177 million euros in 2018. The two ISL Group sites generated a total turnover of 25 million euros in 2018. The two foreign ISL sites in Dýšina (Czech Republic) and Nové Mesto (Slovakia) will not be taken over.
