Corrugated cardboard made from grass paper is an alternative packaging material for sustainable companies. Thimm currently produces the resource-saving corrugated cardboard at its sites in Germany and the Czech Republic. The first displays made from grass corrugated board are currently being used in the world's first concept shopping mall "Bikini Berlin".

The use of innovative and sustainable raw materials has always been the focus of packaging manufacturer Thimm. With the production of Corrugated grass fibreboard Thimm now offers its customers a further Environmentally friendly alternative on. The corrugated cardboard is based on grass paper, which has an improved eco-balance compared to wood-based paper. Grass paper consists of around 30 per cent Grass patties and 70 per cent from Waste paper. The grass is harvested several times a year from legally designated compensation areas that are not used for agricultural purposes. No fertiliser or chemical treatment is used on these grassland areas. Furthermore, the management of the areas represents an additional source of income for agriculture.

For the Paper production the peletts, which consist of grass, are purely mechanical processes processed. This results in extremely low water consumption in the manufacturing process. People, companies and the environment also benefit from a low CO2-emission during paper production.

Currently processed Thimm the innovative raw material on the corrugators in Germany and the Czech Republic. Corrugated grass board can be punched, folded or glued on the processing machines in the same way as normal corrugated board. Using all standard printing processes within the Thimm Group, corrugated grass board can also be excellent printing. The paper structure is still recognisable afterwards, offers excellent reproduction of the print colours and thus ensures a attention-grabbing effect at the point of sale.

Display

Corrugated cardboard made from grass paper can be used across all sectors for Packaging and displays and promotes the trend towards paper-based sustainable packaging solutions. For Foodbuzz, a marketer for food start-ups, Thimm produced the first Displays made from corrugated grass board. Foodbuzz is presenting new products from food start-ups in its own pop-up store at Bikini Berlin until January 2020. The displays used are the modular display system "Sales Amplifier" from Thimm. The modular pallet displays consist of basic components in the form of unprinted standard trays, combined with a customised display casing. The all-round jacket was printed digitally and thus offers the start-ups an eye-catching presentation area.
