Prof. Dr Andrea Büttner was appointed Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging IVV in Freising on 1 November 2019.

The internationally recognised scientist has already established the Product Effect business unit and the Analytical Sensor Technology department at the Fraunhofer IVV in recent years and has also taken on management responsibility as deputy institute director.

The Fraunhofer IVV is a leader in applied research in the fields of Food, packaging, product impact, processing machines, recycling and the environment.

„I am delighted to be able to play a key role in shaping research and development as head of the Fraunhofer IVV. The key challenges of our time are characterised by their complexity, the intermeshing of product and manufacturing chains and the need for systemic approaches in research and development. For example, it is essential to take a holistic view of the complex issue of the circular economy of plastics, starting with the development of materials or the design of packaging,“ explains Prof Dr. Andrea Büttner.
