RAL Gütegemeinschaft Wertstoffkette PET-Getränkeverpackungen e.V. is presenting itself for the first time at the International Green Week (IGW) in Berlin under the motto „Recycling is climate protection“.
The Quality Association promotes the further development of PET beverage bottles from an ecological point of view. The aim is to, Closing material cycles, the increase the recycled content of PET bottles. The members of the Quality Association thus make a significant contribution to climate protection and offer an ecological alternative without neglecting consumer safety.
Stricter testing of the recycled content
At its 9th general meeting, the Quality Association also decided to revise the quality and test specifications. These form the basis for awarding the RAL Quality Mark Recyclable PET.
In addition to the inclusion of a further stage in the value chain, the PET flakes recyclers (without extrusion), the monitoring and certified specification of the recycled content is a significant change. The Quality Association is thus responding to the request to have the proportion of recyclate in the packaging certified by an independent body. Up to now, it was only monitored whether at least 25 % recyclate was contained in the products with the quality mark.
