Sappi expands seal portfolio with two new basis weights

Due to increasing demand, paper manufacturer Sappi has now expanded its Sappi Seal family with two new grammages of 85 g/m² and 100 g/m².

Paper manufacturer Sappi has now added two new grammages to its Sappi Seal family in response to rising demand.

In addition to the version with 67 g/m², the two versions new papers with 85 g/m² and 100 g/m² branded goods manufacturers to package an even wider range of products with this functional paper - whether as Primary packaging or secondary packaging.

The demands on packaging papers are constantly increasing: they should More and more functionalities be ecological and recyclable and provide optimum protection for the packaged products. Sustainable alternative

Sappi Seal has a Integrated heat-sealing capability and consists of made from more than 95 per cent renewable materials. The two new papers and the grammage of 67 g/m² that is already available therefore represent sustainable alternatives to existing PE-coated paper packaging solutions.

„With Sappi Seal, fossil-based raw materials can be reduced by more than half, as the integrated heat sealability has been realised as a dispersion coating on the reverse side of the paper. In addition, the CO2-emissions by almost 50 per cent. This was the result of a study by Ecochain,“ explains René Köhler, Head of Business Development Packaging and Speciality Papers at Sappi.

Furthermore, the Sappi-Seal papers are 100 % recyclable and can be supplied certified according to FSC (FSC C015022) and PEFC (PEFC/07-32-76).

The packaging paper is not only heat-sealable, but also has a notable Moisture barrier against water vapour. It also ensures good printing results and thus guarantees a high-quality visual effect of the packaged goods. The one-side coated paper can be in gravure, offset and flexo printing can be printed.
