Zanders is continuing the development of its successful paper range for food packaging: the improved Zanbarrier NGR („Natural Grease Resistant“) offers the proven 100 per cent natural barrier against oil and grease without the use of any chemicals and has an even higher density.

The paper consists of pure virgin fibre and is 100 per cent Biodegradable. Zanbarrier NGR is the perfect choice to avoid non-natural materials in food packaging. The Environmentally friendly variety is produced on the 6.6 metre wide PM3 from Zanders, the largest and most efficient paper machine for barrier papers in Europe.

The Higher density of the improved Zanbarrier NGR opens up new application possibilities. It is ideal for countless forms of flexible food packaging that Oil and grease resistance and Wet strength require, z. e.g. fast food such as kebabs or chips, bread bags, butter wrappers, pizza and confectionery cartons or food labels.

„Excellent opacity and outstanding printing and processing properties enable any type of application from fine corrugation to lamination,“ says Michael Berner, Sales Manager Food Packaging at Zanders.

The use of 100 per cent virgin fibre and ISEGA certification guarantee suitability for direct food contact.

Michael Berner explains the unique Zanbarrier NGR production process: „The cellulose fibres are ground very finely over several refiner stages. This creates a very tight, highly cross-linked structure that forms a 100 per cent natural barrier. Thanks to its exceptional quality, Zanbarrier NGR will play a similar role in flexible food packaging as Chromolux does in the label paper market, for example.“
