SuperLock: pressure-resistant cup for sensitive foods

SuperLock PP cup from Superfos with avocados and chillies

The guacamole from Spanish processor Avomix now comes in the new SuperLock cup from Superfosa Berry Global company, onto the shelves. The cup is pressure-resistant using the High Pressure Processing (HPP) process.

The food manufacturer's requirement: the cup had to be strong enough to withstand high-pressure pasteurisation. This means that the product requires neither additives nor preservatives. The process, also known as cold pasteurisation, makes food last longer with pressure instead of heat.

Cup withstands high pressure

Commercially packaged foodstuffs are exposed to high pressure evenly and continuously in a pressurised container filled with water. This inactivates the biological functions of microorganisms, without affecting the taste, odour and visual experience of the product.

The new packaging solution is the result of a close Collaboration between Avomix, Superfos and the Belgian label supplier Verstraete IML. He supplied in-mould labels with special inks and varnishes. With SuperLock, a moisture and pressure-resistant, user-friendly cup with a fresh appearance was created.

SuperLock consists of Made from 100 per cent polypropylene and is therefore recyclable. The resealable lid protects the contents even after opening and allows portion control.
