Design teams from the UK, Germany and Sweden have designed the new Absolut vodka bottle on behalf of the Ardagh Group. The glass packaging manufacturer produced the matt blue glass bottle in Sweden.
The limited edition bottle for the vodka Absolute Movement comes in a matt blue glass bottle with a spiral design consisting of 16 vortices, which is intended to symbolise the cycle of perpetual change.
Challenge for Ardagh
Ardagh brought together design teams from the UK, Germany and Sweden to create the bottle based on a design by the Swedish design agency Frankenstein Studio design.
"The biggest challenge was to design the 16 swirls with the optimum depth and sharpness to create the eye-catching effect on the bottle and to position them evenly around the Absolut logo embossed in the glass. In production, the swirl design covers 360° of the bottle.“ Maria Persson, NPD Project Manager of the Glass Nordic division of the Ardagh Group
All bottle sizes (700ml, 750ml and 1 litre) were tested at the Ardagh Group in Limmared, Sweden. As in Ardagh's entire glass production, the use of recycled glass has also been maximised here. This is supported by a high recycling rate of 93 per cent in Sweden.
