As a manufacturer of sustainable plastic packaging, Greiner Packaging is constantly adapting to new product shapes and requirements. One current example is the new Somat Excellence 4in1 dishwasher detergent caps from Henkel. These utilise a unique technology that combines powder and three solid gel chambers, as previously known from detergents - securely packaged in cardboard-plastic combinations and an innovative lid solution from Greiner Packaging.
Brand manufacturer Henkel is now also using Greiner Packaging's sustainable cardboard-plastic tubs with a proportion of 50 % post-consumer recycled PP from end consumer households for a new Somat brand product. These have already been used for the Persil 4in1 DISCS packaging, also from Henkel, with the World Star Award 2021 honoured.
Thanks to its patented tear-open system, the cardboard sleeve and plastic tub can be easily separated and recycled. As the two components can be fed separately into the recycling loops, the consumer benefits from packaging that is very easy to recycle. Cardboard with almost 100 % recycled material content is used for the sleeve.
Greiner Packaging uses a two-layer process for the plastic tub itself: The inside of the plastic tub is made of white virgin material, which guarantees an optimum colour contrast to the colourful 4in1 caps. The outer layer of the packaging, on the other hand, contains 50 % r-PP, which was obtained from household waste. The greyish colour of the layer does not affect the appearance of the packaging - as it is encased in an attractively printed cardboard sleeve.
