Coveris will be presenting sustainable packaging for to-go food at the lunch! trade fair in September. The focus will be on recyclability and the company's no-waste strategy, which aims to combine environmental responsibility with the latest trends in the food-on-the-go sector.

From 23 to 24 September the food-to-go industry meets at ExCeL London to the trade fair lunch!. Exhibitor Coveris will be showing packaging for on-the-go food consumption, including two brand new products.

Paper-based mono-material packaging

The new addition to the Coveris range for sandwich packaging is the mono-material RecyclaPaper. It is a paper-based, recyclable sandwich packaging with a transparent window that gives the consumer good visibility of the product. The window is also paper-based and offers the same product protection and durability as conventional film windows.

Developed for recyclability

Together with iPac has Coveris has also developed the new Icard trays, which are designed for recyclability and shelf appeal. They combine a thin, rPET inner coating made from up to 100 per cent recycled material with an outer, fully printable cardboard tray. The trays are bonded without laminate or adhesive, can be easily separated for recycling and are Compatible with lidding films including MAP options for good product shelf life. They are suitable for chilled food, ready meals and take-away food. icard tray was a finalist in the nominated at the UK Packaging Awards 2021 and takes part in the Lunch! innovation competition.

Coveris complements RecyclaLite range

Coveris„ RecyclaLite packaging, which won Cartonboard Pack of the Year at the UK Packaging Awards 2020, is lightweight and easy to recycle and contains 40 per cent less plastic. Coveris has now launched the RecyclaLite range extended to include wrap boxes. The packaging for the range is made from sustainable cardboard and is designed in accordance with the OPRL-regulations 2020 and 2023 for laminated cardboard packaging recyclable.
