The Ecolutions packaging line from Constantia Flexibles fulfils requirements for greater sustainability and is based on recyclable solutions. At the same time, it aims to minimise environmental impact.
The Ecolutions packaging line also has all the features required to protect the packaged products. In addition to Ecolutions, the company will be exhibiting at FachPack 2021 Aluminium-based products. The packaging manufacturer generates more than half of the company's business - the pharmaceutical and consumer divisions combined - with its aluminium-based solutions.
„In Europe, the recycling rate for aluminium packaging, including beverage cans, is 65%. This rate is rising steadily thanks to ever-improving collection and recycling techniques. Our portfolio is broadly diversified. The recyclability of every material we use is a priority.“ Pim Vervaat, CEO of Constantia Flexibles
EcoLam: Recyclable mono-PE laminates
EcoLam laminates are made from several of Constantia Flexibles developed PE-based building blocks oPE (oriented polyethylene), barrier-oPE and met-oPE (metallised oriented polypropylene). In combination with specially designed PE-based sealing media - from lock-seal to peelable - the EcoLam structures replace non-recyclable laminates such as PET/PE (polyester/ polyethylene), PA/PE (polyamide/ polyethylene) or even PET/ALU/PE (polyester/ aluminium/ polyethylene).
The EcoLam mono-PE laminates are thinner, have a higher heat resistance for a large sealing window and, due to the combination of different processes, have a very low barrier polymer content. EcoLam has also been certified by the RecyClass initiative of European plastics recyclers (PRE - Plastic Recyclers Europe). This certificate guarantees compatibility with readily available sorting and recycling technologies that are common in the European recycling sector on an industrial scale.
The barrier properties can be adapted to the product to be packaged: from EcoLam, which has a high water vapour barrier, to EcoLamPlus, which contains additional barriers against oxygen, odours and mineral oil, to EcoLamHighPlus, which has a high water vapour barrier. aluminium-like barrier properties has.
Due to the high water vapour barrier, dry pet food, confectionery, cereals and pasta as well as detergents can be packaged in EcoLam. The improved oxygen barrier makes EcoLamPlus suitable for dressings, cheese and other dairy products. EcoLamHighPlus provides a barrier against both water vapour and oxygen and is the ideal packaging for coffee, snacks, dried products, compote and baby food as well as perfume and other personal care products.

EcoPaperPlus: the paper-based packaging solution with a medium barrier
The EcoPaper family includes a wide range of recyclable paper-based packaging. EcoPaperPlus is a solution for applications that require a medium barrier. It is particularly suitable for products that require a barrier against odours and fats, such as confectionery, a wide range of snacks and household and personal care products. The material is available with a smooth or rough surface and can be printed using gravure, flexo or digital printing processes. The use of FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes) certified paper is also possible.
EcoVer Family: Mono PP solutions
Premiere for a whole family: this is the first time these products have been shown at a trade fair. The EcoVer packaging film is a mono-PP solution from Constantia Flexibles, which is available in different barrier levels: EcoVer, EcoVerPlus or EcoVerHighPlus. Its main advantage is that it can be used in various packaging applications (Vertical Form Fill Seal, VFFS; Horizontal Form Fill Seal Machine, HFFS) and has a high level of transparency. The laminate is particularly suitable for products such as beverages, snacks, confectionery, HPC, pet care or processed food.
The thermal resistance of EcoVer is very highThe packaging solution has an improved outer layer in combination with a sealing layer that starts to seal at low temperatures to enable a wider sealing window. The packaging is characterised by good heat resistance and rigidity. Due to its mono-PP structure, the EcoVer family is recyclable in the mixed PO stream (polyolefin stream).
EcoPressoLid: the compostable capsule shell
With the new EcoPressoLid capsule film from Constantia Flexibles, more sustainable coffee consumption is possible. With its EN13432-certified and therefore compostable and bio-based material, EcoPressoLid is designed to seal the top or bottom of compostable coffee capsules. The most important properties of EcoPressoLid include a high oxygen barrier and good performance during the brewing process thanks to the high seal strength and suitable perforation.
EcoAluTainer: the recyclable aluminium foil container
EcoAluTainer is a Aluminium-based foil container system, which is used for pet food, coffee and various foods such as tuna or jam. All materials are free from harmful substances such as BPA (bisphenol A) and GLYMO (3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane). In addition, no chrome-treated film is used for this packaging solution. It can be easily recycled in the aluminium waste stream and can also contain recycled material itself. By using ASI (Aluminium Stewardship Initiative) certified aluminium, responsible sourcing of the aluminium can be guaranteed.

ComforLid: Less plastic waste when drinking on the go
The ComforLid packaging solution is the perfect addition to the Constantia Flexibles Ecolutions product range. It guarantees a comfortable drinking experience without the additional use of plastic drinking lids or straws. ComforLid is suitable for polypropylene cups and can be used for liquids such as coffee drinks, drinking yoghurts, whey or soft drinks. Due to the Opening can be customised according to customer requirements ComforLid offers easy dosing for solid products such as muesli, chewing gum or dried herbs. To get the perfect drinking experience, consumers completely separate the ComforLid from the plastic cup, making this packaging solution from CyclosHTP has been certified as up to 99 per cent recyclable.
