SÜDPACK Medica AG is expanding its portfolio of thermoforming films with a polypropylene-based, halogen-free film for the production of blister packs and other pharmaceutical solids applications.

Südpack Medica AG as part of the South pack Group supplies plastic-based sterile barriers. These are used in medical technology, diagnostics, the life science industry and pharmaceuticals worldwide.

In order to meet the requirements of the circular economy, the company has now also developed a polyolefin-based solution for solid applications for blister applications.

Südpack describes the PP-based, halogen-free film as a particularly sustainable alternative to PVC/PVdC blister materials. Processing on existing packaging lines is "very well possible with only minor modifications."
