The company develops customised solutions for well-known beverage brands such as Heineken, Chivas Regal and Agua de Benassal, which both reduce CO2 emissions and enable an attractive brand image.

140 per cent increase in sales
The Czech offshoot of Heineken Pivovar Velke Brezno ran a major campaign for its new beer brand one year after its market launch, as the forecast sales had not been achieved. Within just one week, Smurfit Kappa developed a solution that improves the visibility of the products and does not affect the existing processes. The lids and inner inserts are delivered to the customer flat on a pallet and both parts can be fitted and attached to the drum in just nine seconds without the need for gluing. The result: an increase in turnover of 140 per cent with simultaneous cost neutrality.
Product packaging only on site
For the whisky brand, the challenge lay in the product packaging for transport to China. Originally, the transport box contained three porcelain bottles, which were sent in their own product packaging with a presentation effect. However, Chivas wanted to send the bottles without the product packaging with presentation effect. These should then be added in China instead and then put back in the original box.

Smurfit Kappa's solution was a simple one-piece punch with a locking tab. The inserts were positioned at a 45-degree angle to prevent sideways movement and collisions. This innovative packaging allows customers to, repackaging the products in China instead of the UK, The use of the original outer crate is retained. This solution leads to considerable cost savings and generates less CO2 due to the lower weight during shipping.
