Klöckner Pentaplast plans capacity expansion in North America

Klöckner Pentaplast plans to invest in the expansion of its rPET/PET capacity in North America to further expand its offering in the healthcare, pharmaceutical and food packaging markets.

Klöckner Pentaplast plans to invest in the expansion of its rPET/PET capacity in North America, thereby expanding its offering in the healthcare, pharmaceutical and food packaging markets.

The planned expansion of the supplier of products made from recycled material and barrier packaging includes one extrusion line and two thermoformers with a total capacity of 15,000 tonnes of rPET/PET.

The extrusion line is designed to optimise the production of recyclable pharmaceutical blister films kpNext and the recyclable Smartcycle labelling and consumer packaging films support. The thermoformers will produce the kp Elite mono-material trays, which are made from up to 100 per cent recycled PET and can be easily recycled.

Klöckner Pentaplast is currently finalising the location for the expansion. It is to be located next to one of the company's six North American plants. The plant will ready for operation in the first quarter of 2024 be.
