Münsterland-based Rottendorf Pharma GmbH is expanding production at its headquarters in Ennigerloh with a new building, which will be completed in 2022. In future, four BEC 300 blister lines and an Integrated Bottle Centre (IBC) from Uhlmann Pac-Systeme will be used in the plant extension.
The BEC 300 is a compact combination of blister and cartoning module. It is designed for fast changeovers from one product to the next in under 30 minutes. This makes it possible for contract manufacturers, pack many small and medium-sized batches economically on one line. The fact that only a few format parts are required also suits Rottendorf Pharma. „We have around 15,000 format parts in stock at our German sites so that we can pack a wide variety of solids. Lines with fewer format parts are easier to manage. However, we invest in the original format parts from Uhlmann because we have had good experiences with them,“ reports Niklas Bicker, Packaging Operations Engineer at Rottendorf Pharma.
In addition to the positive experience with the existing lines, several other factors tipped the scales in favour of Uhlmann. „We expect good capacity utilisation for our new building. That's why we need lines like the BEC 300 and the IBC that are absolutely stable and reliable. Fast service is also important so that we can get back into production quickly in the event of unplanned downtime. We have found both with Uhlmann,“ says Rottendorf Managing Director Silke Huster.
