More than 2,000 years ago, hemp was already being used in China as a useful plant for paper. Now the material is being added to the Etiket Schiller product range as an alternative to paper labels. Among other things, it is characterised by its sustainable cultivation and processing.
The self-adhesive labels impress with their pleasant soft feel, good printability and their recyclability. The labels made of hemp paper are particularly suitable for high-quality cosmetics, spirits, wine and organic food. Label Schiller uses pure hemp paper from the company for the labels. VPF in the grammage 120 g/m². In this quality, the paper is Suitable for offset printing, but also for screen printing, blind embossing, hot foil stamping and die-cutting. Due to its composition and the use of plant-based raw materials, inclusions, leaf appearance and colour may vary slightly, which emphasises the naturalness of the material.
Hemp grows faster than trees and has a yield four to five times higher than a forest of the same size. This is because a hemp plant reaches a height of up to four metres within a year and can be harvested three times a year. At the same time it produces more biomass than any other native crop plant. As hemp fibres are naturally light in colour, the production of hemp paper requires very little bleaching agent. In addition, hemp fibres are about five times as long as cellulose fibres, which makes the hemp paper particularly tensile and tear-resistant - even when wet. At the same time, hemp paper is valuable for the waste paper cycle, as it can be recycled particularly often.
The new self-adhesive labels made from hemp paper are a logical extension of the company's range, which attaches great importance to a responsible approach to the environment and its resources.
