Europe's leading competition for packaging design will take place again in 2023 and is now accepting entries. This year, the Pro Carton Young Designers Award gives up-and-coming European designers the chance to win a trip to a leading carton manufacturer for their carton packaging concepts and receive exclusive practical training at a folding carton manufacturer in Europe. The closing date for entries is 19 May 2023.
The Pro Carton Young Designers Award aims to contribute to the promotion of sustainable innovative packaging concepts throughout Europe and recognises young design talents and creative minds who are exemplary in this field.
Launched in 2004, the competition invites pupils and students from European schools, colleges and universities to put their design skills to the test and create the most innovative cartonboard packaging concept. Entries can be submitted in three categories: Food and Beverages, All Other and Sustainability. An audience award will also be voted on. All finalists and their teachers will be invited to the awards gala, which will take place in Seville, southern Spain, in September 2023.
The participants are requested to, placing sustainability in design at the centre of their solutions and thinking about how manufacturers can utilise the versatility and practicality of cartonboard to make their packaging and shelves more attractive with renewable materials.
Pupils and students of all educational levels are invited to take part in the free competition. Teachers are urged to include the Pro Carton Young Designers Award in their teaching projects for 2023. The supporting partners of Pro Carton provide the pupils with free cardboard sheets.

Many educational institutions have recognised the opportunities that the prize offers for young designers. The competition has therefore grown increasingly since its introduction in 2004. In 2022, the awards recorded over 800 entries from more than 100 universities. a record-breaking number of entries.
