Automation specialist de Man is celebrating a milestone anniversary. The family-run company from Borgholzhausen has been developing customised systems in the fields of robotics, storage and conveyor technology for 50 years.

Half a century - that's a long time, especially in automation technology with its constant changes and progress. De Man Automation + Service GmbH & Co. KG has managed to maintain its position as a specialist for integrated automation solutions over the years. The company has been developing customised systems for every customer since 1973 in the areas of robotics (palletising, labelling, handling), warehousing and conveyor technology, including the associated after-sales service. The system integrator from Borgholzhausen is responsible for everything from planning and design to mechanical and electrical installation, programming and commissioning.

De Man is still family-run today, The sons of the company founder have been with the company since 2004. Tobias de Man now runs the company as Managing Director and Head of Control Technology, while Sebastian de Man heads up Sales.

The entry into robot technology in the year 2000 proved to be a milestone, today the development of robotic systems is the company's core business. Whether it was the entry into RFID technology, the development of the patented wireless ChannelCar or the „de Man MasterMind“ material flow computer - de Man has always moved with the times and focussed on innovations with a future. The company regularly presented its solutions at numerous trade fairs (Hannover Messe, IFFA, FachPack, Logimat, Anuga Foodtec, FMB), sometimes as a partner of Kawasaki Robotics or the „Robotik-Pack-Line“.

Expert for palletising

de Man has always developed solutions for a wide range of sectors, from the food and chemical industries to the timber industry. Over the years, however, a trend has emerged in the type of applications - more and more palletising systems have been requested and developed, Today, more than half of all orders come from the field of robot palletising. To make it easier for customers to get started in this area, de Man launched the compact modular robot cell „MRZ“ on the market in 2014.

The automation specialist now offers its customers a whole series of pre-planned modular robot cells for various applications and the MKA: In addition to the MRZ, the MKA for erecting cartons, the MPZ for packing goods in cartons and the MEZ for labelling. The latter even made it into the top ten best innovations in the Robotics & Automation category at the Best of Industry Award 2021.

In order to cope with the steady growth in orders, de Man expanded its premises in 2020 to include an additional 400 square metre warehouse. Even the coronavirus pandemic has not affected the good order situation. Of course, a large number of well-trained specialists are also needed to realise the challenging projects on time. So de Man regularly offers students the opportunity, your Bachelor's or Master's thesis in the exciting field of robot technology to write.
