Packaging manufacturer Coveris introduces MonoFlexFibre Pure Twist, a paper alternative for confectionery packaging designed to replace less sustainable alternatives for twist-wrapped confectionery products. The lightweight material offers reliable product protection and efficiency on high-speed packaging lines.

MonoFlexFibre Pure Twist replaces less sustainable materials typically used for twist-wrapped confectionery products such as lollipops, hard candies, and chocolate pralines. Heat-sealable flow wrap packaging for bars and sticks also benefits from this development. MonoFlexFibre Pure Twist meets the industry's 95/5 guidelines for paper recyclability, while also offering reliable product protection and efficiency on high-speed packaging lines.

Coveris' new solution consists of a single layer of lightweight functional paper, providing a reliable seal as primary packaging for single or twisted candies, chocolate pralines and lollipops, as well as for hot-sealed chocolate bars in pillow packs. Furthermore, it offers excellent printability for gravure, flexographic, and digital printing. The transition to this paper structure requires no major modifications to existing machinery and can be efficiently implemented on high-speed and standard FFS packaging lines.

Sustainability as standard

MonoFlexFibre Pure Twist also meets the tightened recycling requirements for packaging waste. This is a crucial factor in the confectionery sector, where material performance and recyclability must be carefully weighed up. The PPWR introduces stricter recyclability requirements and higher recycling targets. For example, it stipulates that all packaging placed on the market must be recyclable by 2030.
