Packaging manufacturer Elopak has announced a change at the top of the company. The company's supervisory board has appointed Håkon Volldal as the new Chief Executive Officer. Volldal comes from Nel ASA and is expected to take up his new role by early 2027 at the latest.

Volldal is currently President and CEO of the hydrogen company Nel ASA. Previously, he was CEO of Q-Free and held several management positions at Tomra, most recently as Executive Vice President and Head of Tomra Collection Solutions. He holds a degree in Industrial Economics and Technology Management from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

Supervisory board banks on industrial and transformation experience

Chairman of the Supervisory Board Dag Mejdell justified the personnel decision with Volldal's experience in technology-oriented industrial companies. He explained literally: „Håkon brings extensive leadership experience from publicly traded industrial companies, including as President and CEO of Nel and as Head of Tomra Collection Solutions – both companies with a clear growth agenda, driving innovation and sustainability in response to fundamental changes in society and markets.“

According to the company, Volldal is to further drive the implementation of the existing corporate strategy and lead Elopak into its next phase of growth.

Start of term at the latest by early 2027

Volldal himself described Elopak as a company with a „clear stance, a proud history and a concrete vision for the future“. His „most important priority“ will be to „accelerate the implementation of Elopak's ‚Repackaging tomorrow‘ strategy and drive positive change in the packaging industry“.

Until the new CEO takes office, Bent Kilsund Axelsen will remain interim CEO. After that, he will return to his previous role, as will interim CFO Ola Buarøy.

Headquartered in Norway, Elopak is a global provider of paper-based packaging solutions. The company states it employs over 3,000 people and operates in more than 70 countries.
