Etimex Primary Packaging is expanding its production capacities in Dietenheim. The focus is on sustainable packaging solutions for the pharmaceutical and food industries.
The increasing demand for sustainable packaging solutions in the pharmaceutical and food industries is driving Etimex Primary Packaging to make a strategic investment at its Dietenheim site. The company plans to expand its production capacities for the Purelay and Vistaform product lines and to establish a new Class 7 cleanroom area. These measures are scheduled to be completed by the first quarter of 2027.
Focus on sustainable materials
The pharmaceutical industry is undergoing a shift towards more environmentally friendly packaging. Traditional PVC/aluminium blister packs are coming under increasing pressure because they are not recyclable. Etimex is responding to this with the production of mono-material solutions such as Purelay, which are made of polypropylene and offer better recyclability. These packaging solutions meet high demands for product protection and process reliability, making them a sustainable alternative, it is said.
Cleanroom production in accordance with ISO 15378
As part of the expansion, Etimex will create new cleanroom capacities which are designed in accordance with the international standard ISO 15378. This standard combines the requirements of GMP with a certified quality management system for primary packaging materials for medicinal products. This measure is intended to minimise the risk of contamination and ensure consistently high product quality.
Expansion of capacities for Purelay and Vistaform
Purelay is considered the original in polypropylene mono-blister solutions, enabling pharmaceutical companies to reduce material usage and improve recyclability. Vistaform, on the other hand, offers high-quality thermoforming films made from polypropylene for the food industry, which can extend the shelf life of sensitive foods through their oxygen barrier properties. Both product lines are set to be strengthened by the investment to meet the growing demands of the markets.
Long-term commitment to the Dietenheim site
Investing in Dietenheim is not only a step towards expanding capacity, but also a clear commitment to the location. Etimex sees Dietenheim as the heart of its production and a central component of its innovation strategy. The expansion is intended to further enhance the company's role as a key industrial employer and innovation driver in the region.
