The European packaging specialist Groupe Guillin is expanding its presence in the paper-based food packaging segment. The French subsidiary Alterecopack has acquired two Belgian companies: Gruyaert Verpakking and Verpakkingen V de V. The acquisition strengthens the Group's range of printed and personalised cardboard packaging.
Groupe Guillin, which claims to be the European market leader in food packaging, announced the acquisition of the two Belgian companies on 30 December 2025.
Gruyaert Verpakking is the leading manufacturer of customised cardboard confectionery packaging in Belgium, while Verpakkingen V de V also sells complementary packaging solutions in addition to Gruyaert's products. Together, the two companies achieved a turnover of around 19 million euros in 2024 and employ around 40 people.
Expansion of the cartonboard and customisation business
With this acquisition, Groupe Guillin is pursuing its strategy of further expanding its product range in the field of paper and cardboard-based packaging. According to the company, the acquisition is intended in particular to strengthen the expertise of its own paper and cardboard sites and consolidate its position in the market for printed and customised packaging solutions.
Sophie Guillin, Managing Director of Groupe Guillin, emphasises the quality craftsmanship and established production processes of the two family businesses. The integration of Gruyaert and V de V should help to further develop the existing expertise in the cardboard packaging segment and offer customers an even broader range of products.
The merger is also viewed favourably by the sellers. Frank Van de Vloet, representative of the previous owners, sees the merger with Groupe Guillin as an opportunity to combine existing strengths and further expand European production and delivery capabilities.
