Berlin Packaging, a provider of hybrid packaging solutions, has acquired UK-based packaging manufacturer BlueSky, strengthening its position across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). BlueSky's solutions focus on the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, cosmetic, personal care, home care, and beverage markets.

With the acquisition of BlueSky, a family-run company based in Grimsby, UK, Berlin Packaging is expanding its capabilities and presence in the British market. BlueSky is known for its expertise in providing packaging solutions made from plastic, metal, and glass, including specialised containers, closures, and dispensing systems for various industries. The company serves small and medium-sized customers across the UK with a fast and simple service approach built on consultation.

Marcel Schröder, President of Berlin Packaging EMEA, emphasises the strategic value of this acquisition: „BlueSky brings profound cross-industry expertise and a complementary portfolio of materials and packaging solutions that ideally complement our existing offering.“ This integration is intended not only to strengthen Berlin Packaging’s existing portfolio but also to offer the opportunity to expand its customer base in the UK.

Customer-focused approach

BlueSky has made a name for itself through a fast and responsive service approach, based on consultation and tailor-made solutions. This customer-centric philosophy aligns perfectly with Berlin Packaging, which focuses on enhancing its customers' bottom line through innovative packaging solutions and services.

Russell Wade, BlueSky’s Managing Director, sees the acquisition as an opportunity to combine the strengths of both companies: „By combining our highly responsive consulting service with Berlin’s global scale, procurement power and innovation capabilities, we will be able to offer our customers a wider range of packaging solutions, an even more resilient supply chain and stronger support for their growth.“

In addition to traditional packaging solutions, BlueSky also offers additional services such as decoration and printing, which further diversifies Berlin Packaging's offering. These additional services are particularly valuable for customers looking for comprehensive solutions that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
