The German Packaging Institute announced the date for the German Packaging Congress on Friday. On 17 and 18 May, representatives from business, politics, research and NGOs will have the opportunity to exchange ideas. This year's event will once again be held exclusively in digital form.
The core theme of this year's congress is packaging as a pioneer in the transformation to a circular economy. „For example, we are looking at energy, climate and the future and analysing the role of packaging in these fields. We want to clarify the extent of the Circular Economy's contribution to climate neutrality. We take a look at Extended Producer Responsibility, analyse aspects such as the litter fund and plastic tax, provide an overview of the EU's regulatory activities and look at the legal framework as well as the Opportunities and potential of digitalisation in relation to sustainability and the circular economy,“ says Kim Cheng, Managing Director of the dvi.
Digital matchmaking once again
Speakers at the congress include the computer scientist, economist and globalisation designer Franz-Josef Radermacher; the head of the Sustainable Products and Production, Circular Economy department at the Federal Environment Agency, Bettina Rechenberg; the officer of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection, Matthias Klein; the Managing Director of EUROPEN, Francesca Stevens and Representatives of Nestlé Germany and Coca-Cola GmbH. The dvi will introduce further speakers in the coming weeks.
Congress participants have the opportunity to use a special B2B matchmaking tool, Individual meetings with other participants to take place. „We already used this option for virtual networking last year. It has proved its worth and gives our participants the opportunity, generate leads in the virtual space as well, to network with new contacts or maintain existing contacts,“ says Cheng.
The registration form for participants is available from the German Packaging Institute free in the next few weeks. Information and forms can be found on the Website of the dvi.
