
Paper specialist Sappi is expanding the production of its non-wet-strength wet-glue label paper Parade Label Pro to higher basis weights. In order to avoid interruptions in the supply chain, the paper will in future be produced not only in Austria but also in Germany.
Due to the increasing demand for high-quality label papers, the Sappi In mid-2021, the company will expand its product portfolio of non-wet-strength wet-glue label papers with the launch of Parade Label Pro paper. The premium paper is suitable for a wide range of applicationssuch as labels for disposable bottles, cans and jars as well as for flexible packaging applications such as snack and confectionery packaging.
Bundled expertise
Sappi has now announced additional production at the Alfeld plant. In future, the 80 and 90 g/m² basis weights will be produced at the Gratkorn and Alfeld plants. The plant in Alfeld will produce Parade Label Pro in these two basis weights in roll format and thus contribute to bundling the expertise in sheet format at the plant in Gratkorn. The German Sappi plant in Alfeld also produces the higher basis weights of 100, 110 and 120 g/m² in roll and sheet format.
As part of this expansion, Sappi's portfolio of non-wet-strength wet-glue labels has been reviewed and optimised. The non-wet-strength wet-glue labels Parade Label A and Parade Label G - originally designed for offset and gravure printing - were removed from the range and replaced by Parade Label Pro. Tests both at Sappi and with external partners have clearly shown that the new labels are the best choice, that Parade Label Pro delivers good results for the application areas of Parade Label A and G.
