When it comes to recycling plastics, there are always discussions about chemical and mechanical recycling, as not all plastics can be recycled mechanically. PreZero and Shell have entered into a co-operation to work on solutions for the chemical recycling of plastics.

PreZero will be his Experience in the collection, sorting and processing of plastics to develop new solutions for the selection and conversion of waste into plastic recyclates. Shell becomes new drive forward technologies that enable plastic waste to be converted into its chemical components. which in turn can be used for the production of new plastics. The first joint initiative from the agreed collaboration is already being developed in the Netherlands.

„Many European countries are currently significantly increasing their recycling targets for plastics. To achieve these targets, we not only need to increase the capacity of our recycling plants, but also diversify the types of plastic waste we can process. Our new project offers new opportunities for recycling, as we are working with material that would otherwise end up as waste.“

Sven Nuener, Managing Director Business Development PreZero International

„Proper waste sorting and processing are crucial to the success of chemical recycling. I am therefore delighted that Shell is expanding its collaboration with PreZero. Our common goal is to develop an economical and sustainable value chain for plastic waste that is not suitable for mechanical recycling. By recycling the material for new high-quality plastic packaging and other products that would otherwise be made from fossil-based raw materials, we are making a significant contribution to the environment. Contribution to resource conservation and the circular economy. With the cooperation agreement, we are bringing together various players in a value chain in order to achieve progress.“
