After relocating from Seevetal to Hamburg-Harburg at the end of last year, Achilles veredelt, a specialist in paper and print finishing, started production at its new Hamburg site at the beginning of the year.

Although already based in the Hamburg area for 50 years, the new location for Achilles veredelt represents a further significant improvement in terms of customer service under the motto „We shape your ideas“ and the transport links to Hamburg.

Retreading of the Hamburg site

The new premises in the business park are considerably more modern. The move was also accompanied by an optimisation of the machinery. Customers therefore benefit in two ways: on the one hand, they can be supported even more professionally in the new premises when creating complicated paint and mould data. This enables very special one-off finishes. Secondly, the outdoor area offers sufficient parking spaces for visitors and far greater freedom of movement for suppliers. Furthermore Achilles presents with the responsible area sales manager Michael Wagner will be present on site. The popular workshops for agencies, printers and binderies will also be offered, providing information on the latest developments for finishing and presentation products.

Thomas Theunißen new operations manager in Hamburg

The move is also associated with a change in personnel: The previous Hamburg operations manager Bernd Ahlemeyer is going into well-deserved retirement in the summer. His successor, Thomas Theunißen (45), will manage the new Hamburg location together with him until the summer and then take over completely.

Thomas Theunißen already knows the Hamburg environment from before. After studying printing and media technology, he started his career at Achilles in Hamburg Seevetal, where he stayed for several years. He then spent 10 years gaining further professional experience at other companies in the printing and packaging industry. Finally, in 2014, his career path took him back to Achilles, but this time to Celle as the plant manager there. At the end of last year, he returned to his first place of work in Hamburg.

Thomas Theunißen sees the new Hamburg location primarily as a „Finishing manufactory“. The term „manufactory“, i.e. a company where manual labour is cultivated, was chosen deliberately. It stands for individual „customised“ and handmade finishing solutions in close cooperation with the customer: „My 20 employees and I want to be a creative partner for our customers. This applies to the entire production process - from the joint development of finishing ideas to pre-press and the finished product.“ According to Theunißen, the motto is: "We mould your ideas".
