On 20 March, executives and managers from the entire value chain will meet in Berlin for the German Packaging Congress at the invitation of the German Packaging Institute (dvi).
The 20th Network and Industry Summit will focus on National and global developments with a focus on finance and politics, strategies and innovations from leading companies as well as digitalisation and AI in the packaging industry. The dvi is organising the anniversary summit into three thematic blocks. The keywords at the beginning of block one are about the Effects of global developments and the question of what consequences this has specifically for the D-A-CH region and its packaging industry.
„The Packaging Congress traditionally focuses on the big picture. However, it is not about abstraction and maximising the altitude, on the contrary. Not least because of the interspersed discussion and question-and-answer sessions, the congress has almost taken on the character of a workshop in recent years. We want to offer the added value of this intensive exchange again this year.“
Oliver Berndt, Head of Events & Marketing at the dvi
Strategies, best practice and innovations
This also applies to the second block of the congress, in which „us Representatives from Ferrero, IKEA, Linpac, Miele, Mondi and Sappi provide insights that are as concrete as they are exclusive,“ says Berndt. The focus will be on the opportunities that packaging opens up for global market leaders such as IKEA. Linpac offers a European overview of sustainable plastic packaging made from rPET. Sappi will share insights into the development, performance, advantages and disadvantages of barrier papers. Ferrero presents its packaging strategies and Miele shows how to meet the challenges of sustainable transformation with confidence and how strategy development can succeed despite unclear guidance from the new PPWR.
Digitalisation and AI in the packaging industry
The third and final block of the German Packaging Congress will then focus on all about digitalisation and artificial intelligence. „We want to take a look at AI applications in packaging development and learn from SAP how to deal with country-specific regulations and reporting on a platform basis,“ announces Oliver Berndt.
As Industry summit and network meeting the German Packaging Congress aims to offer the ideal framework for learning from each other as partners. „This will not only be achieved through the presentations, but also in the many talks and discussions that will take place during the breaks and at the evening event,“ says Berndt. „Together with our partners Mitsubishi Electric and Mondi as well as our premium partner Fachpack, we are looking forward to a strong congress with strong speakers. And we are looking forward to the numerous and weighty presence of formative Personalities from the entire packaging value chain, that make the congress a real networking summit.“
Until 7 February 2025, the dvi is offering early bookers the opportunity to register via the homepage of the packaging congress special conditions.
