Under the motto „Impress with Postpress“, Dresden-based KAMA GmbH showed for the first time the digital networking of its versatile solutions via a central cockpit with the new „KAMA Job Manager“ software, the company's realisation of Print 4.0. The production of a wide variety of folding cartons was also demonstrated.

More than 80 participants from eight countries attended the Open House of KAMA GmbH for Eastern Europe and Germany in Dresden, including numerous commercial printers and well-known manufacturers from the high-quality packaging sector. „We combine our solutions for postpress with the work preparation and press network,“ says KAMA Managing Director Marcus Tralau. „The aim is a networked workflow that reliably and efficiently manages the increasing number of jobs, especially in digital printing - including applications in postpress.“

Workflow for Print 4.0

The KAMA cockpit communicates with the MIS and the machines for punching, embossing, stripping, folding and gluing, sends the job-related data and the appropriate setting values to the machines and provides feedback from production such as the duration of the set-up time, production time, speed and good sheets back to the network in real time.

The production of finished folders with filling height, folding cards with inserted inner life and folding boxes from small to large, with longitudinal seam or automatic folding bottom were demonstrated. The strengths of the KAMA workflows include inline stripping without tools, software-supported set-up with minimal waste and record-fast job changes on the ProCut 76 and DC 76 die-cutting and embossing machines as well as on the KAMA FF 52i folder gluer for digitally printed blanks, some of which take less than five minutes.
