Tjoapack, a global contract packer for the pharmaceutical industry, is investing in the expansion of its US presence. With a new location in Tennessee, the company aims to expand its packaging and logistics expertise and meet the growing demand in the pharmaceutical supply chain environment.

Tjoapack has announced a strategic investment in the expansion of its activities in the United States. In Clinton, Tennessee, a new production and logistics facility of around 170,000 square feet will be built next to the existing site. According to the company, the expansion will further strengthen Tjoapack's role as a service provider for pharmaceutical packaging and supply chain solutions.

The new building will include a complete GMP infrastructure, including capacities for packaging, labelling and cold and ambient storage. According to Tjoapack, this is in response to growing demand from its customers. Completion of the facility is planned for early 2027.

New high-speed lines for various dosage forms

With the expansion, additional high-speed packaging lines are to be put into operation. Solutions are planned for oral solid dosage forms such as bottles and blister packs as well as for injectable products, including vials and autoinjectors. These will be complemented by various secondary packaging concepts.

According to the company, the investment is part of a long-term strategy to expand the infrastructure and increase the flexibility of the services offered. The aim is to better serve existing customers in the USA and at the same time acquire new clients.

Expansion of the injection packaging as a basis

The planned expansion builds on several investments Tjoapack has made over the past two years to expand its US injection packaging capabilities. These include an automated vial packaging line, which was commissioned and validated in May 2025 and, according to the company, has an annual capacity of 15 to 20 million vials, as well as a semi-automated packaging line for autoinjectors, which has been in operation since September 2025.

Tjoapack also expanded its refrigeration capacity back in October 2024. Thanks to a 2.5-fold expansion, additional storage space is now available for temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals in the range of 2 to 8 degrees Celsius.
