A discussion between Minister President Winfried Kretschmann and the management of Gerhard Schubert GmbH, a demonstration of an innovative TLM packaging machine and a tour of the Cobot laboratory were on the programme during the Minister President's visit to Crailsheim today. Mr Kretschmann was also impressed by the family-run company's extensive and qualified support for young talent. During the tour, Dr Christoph Grimmer, Lord Mayor of Crailsheim, and Jutta Niemann, Member of the State Parliament and City Councillor in Schwäbisch Hall, emphasised Schubert's innovative strength and its lead in the market.

„As medium-sized companies, family businesses such as Gerhard Schubert GmbH are important pillars of a successful economy in Baden-Württemberg and are also real hotbeds of innovation. One example of this is technologies such as cobots, which Gerhard Schubert GmbH develops in-house. Our companies develop what is not available on the market themselves and thus make themselves fit for the future - a valuable contribution to securing numerous jobs in our state. Of course, this can only be achieved through the intensive promotion of current skilled workers and those of tomorrow,

„We are delighted that Minister President Winfried Kretschmann has taken the time to visit us in Crailsheim today. In an intensive dialogue, we were able to talk about our concerns and the fundamentally good legal framework conditions for SMEs in Baden-Württemberg.“
Ralf Schubert, Managing Partner of Gerhard Schubert GmbH

Also on the agenda were the importance of digital infrastructure in rural regions as a prerequisite for Industry 4.0 and the difficulty of recruiting skilled labour, particularly in the field of software development. During a tour, the Minister President had the opportunity to gain an impression of the innovative packaging machines and the pioneering cobot laboratory.

These industrial robots, which do not require a protected area, can perform simple tasks such as pick-and-place tasks and the separation of lightweight products. The further development and optimisation of cobots is one of the areas in which Schubert offers IT specialists interesting challenges. These experts are also in demand when it comes to image processing, Schubert's own packaging machine control system and the Grips.world digital platform.

Following the tours, the management and the Minister President discussed various topics that are particularly relevant for the future of the company. These include the digital infrastructure beyond the conurbations, cooperation with research institutions and the planned expansion of the Crailsheim plant, which will be financed entirely from the company's own funds. This project, which will also secure the site, is due to start this autumn with the relocation of the state road. This meeting with the Minister President was of great importance to the management of Gerhard Schubert GmbH, namely Gerhard and Ralf Schubert, Peter Gabriel and Marcel Kiessling.
