Guido Müller is the branch manager of Norden GmbH, based in Ostfildern, and is responsible for sales. The mechanical engineering graduate has been with the company for 15 years and has more than 20 years of experience in the industry.
pj: Mr Müller, what is the current focus near Norden?
Guido Müller: In order to maintain our position as the technology leader in packaging solutions for all aspects of the Tube„ packaging“ we are currently revising our portfolio significantly. There are new machine types for both tube filling and direct secondary packaging that we wanted to present at interpack 2020. For our customers, we are currently implementing a Webshop, to simplify the ordering of wear and spare parts.
A major topic for Norden will certainly be the complete New building of our plant in Sweden with the associated relocation at the end of 2020/beginning of 2021, which will take account of the increased order situation.
pj: What particular challenges did you face last year?
Guido Müller: We look back on the most successful business year in the 85-year history of NORDEN. This is of course a very pleasing event. However, the particular challenge here was to process the exceptionally high volume of work in the usual Norden quality and to deliver on time.
pj: How do you assess the economic situation?
Guido Müller: The situation in Europe in particular is difficult to assess, as at the moment „no stone seems to be left unturned“. The discussions surrounding issues such as Brexit, the environment and trade disputes/protectionism have put a lasting damper on the sustained appetite for investment over the past few years.
Of course, the general conditions have become more difficult and will have an impact on our business results. However, we will continue to pursue our chosen course in a disciplined manner in order to remain competitive and grow profitably.
pj: What effects do you expect for Norden?
Guido Müller: Thanks to our diversified focus on different industries and applications, but in particular thanks to our global orientation and booming markets, we have been able to maintain our results at a very high level to date. Our new developments will ensure further market share. However, how sustainable the Impact of SARS-CoV-2 It is not possible to predict what the impact on the economy will be at this stage - but it will be significant.
pj: What do you see as the most important tasks and trends in the industry?
Guido Müller: THE I certainly see the most important task in the topic of Sustainability. The development of new packaging materials and their environmental compatibility and recyclability will play a key role in the future. Decision factor the end consumer for a particular product.
Another major task is to increase the Product safety especially for pharmaceutical preparations in order to protect consumers from ineffective or even harmful medicines.
