Since June 2021, all single-use deposit PET bottles produced by Schwarz Produktion for Lidl and Kaufland's own brands in Germany have been made from 100 per cent recycled plastic (rPET), with the exception of the lid and label.
Lidl offers around 60 types of drinks in disposable PET bottles that are made from 100 per cent recycled material. Lidl customers can recognise the bottles by the „responsibly packaged“ logo. Lidl also emphasises sustainability in its marketing campaign with posters made from recycled material.
At the Kaufland retail division, around 50 types of drinks from the private label K-Classic are made from 100 per cent rPET. These bottles are labelled with the „more consciously packaged“ logo.
With the increase to 100% rPET for disposable PET bottles, the Schwarz Group says it will save a total of 48,000 tonnes of new plastic and 79,000 tonnes of CO2 in 2021 compared to PET bottles without recyclate.
