New HDPE resin for tethered caps

TotalEnergies introduces a new HDPE resin for tethered caps that saves material and improves recovery and recycling.

A new HDEP resin for tethered caps is designed to use less material and enable better recovery and recycling - this is what TotalEnergies is announcing with the market launch of HDPE 20HD07 for closure solutions.

The new HDPE 20HD07 has Improved mechanical and organoleptic properties, which make it possible to achieve identical technical performance with less material than conventional closures on the market and thus reduce CO2-footprint of the end applications, such as beverage or cosmetic bottles. In addition, it was developed for mono-material PE packaging solutions to facilitate sorting and recycling, and thus contributes to the circular economy.

This new product, which Suitable for applications with food contact fulfils all market requirements for caps and closures. It complies with the European Directive (EU) 2019/904 on the reduction of the impact of plastic products on the environment.

„TotalEnergies is fully committed to improving the environmental impact of its products. Applying eco-design principles in our development process allows us to further advance downsizing opportunities while maintaining high performance and improving recyclability. This is in line with our goal of producing 30 per cent recyclable polymers by 2030.“
