At LogiMAT, CCL Faubel will be presenting smart labels with RFID and e-paper technology that can be integrated into existing IT systems via various interfaces. They are characterised by their battery-free operation and great flexibility during implementation.
The software for the smart label is developed in-house to take into account the specific network requirements of customers. This enables a wide range of interfaces to be offered and, thanks to Smart Device Services, a seamless connection to ERP systems. A Smart Printer function that supports various printing protocols makes it easy to get started. Content is transferred to the e-paper by print job. The details of how battery-free e-paper labels are printed using print jobs will be explained in a presentation at the trade fair on 13 March in the South Forum in Hall 4.
In addition to the Smart Printer function, CCL Faubel plans to use the trade fair exhibits to emphasise the durability and sustainability of these labels: According to the company's experts, the smart labels can be be rewritten several hundred thousand times. And there is no battery to fail or dispose of, and the robust plastic housing can withstand the high stresses of logistics for a long time. These statements are supported by the current IP55 certification of the Faubel-Logistics label.
The tests on the electrical and mechanical safety of this e-paper label were successful. The housing is resistant to UV radiation and chemicals, scratch-resistant, shatter-proof and thermally stable at temperatures from -25 to 70 degrees Celsius. (In the picture, the Faubel-Logistics label is attached to a transport box, for example. Alternatively, it can be screwed on or used with a permanently mounted bracket supplied.
