Solutions for requirements arising from the new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) are at the centre of Herma's presentation. Tough reduction targets for packaging waste are set.
According to the company's experts, packaging waste in this case is likely to include the backing material for shipping labels. With the liner-free InNo-Liner label material, which has just been patented in the first countries and virtually eliminates production waste during labelling, customers can already exploit the savings potential today. The material is also designed to meet the performance and speed requirements of logistics centres. As it is not initially sticky and the adhesive is only activated at the moment of dispensing, it can also avoid some of the disadvantages of conventional siliconised linerless solutions.
The company will also be demonstrating how the key challenges of the PPWR can be met with numerous labelling solutions. The specialist for packaging and product labelling offers solutions for the four fields of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover (image). For the „Reduce“ aspect, for example, the Thin Range comes into play. This includes particularly lightweight labels that not only save resources but also costs.
A variety of paper and film label types cover the most common labelling applications. For the aspects of „reuse“ and „recycle“, the latest wash-off solutions for labels are also presented, e.g. for the recurring labelling of reusable containers or for use on plastic bottles and containers from which clean recyclate is to be recovered. The aim of compostability is to at least return packaging materials to a sensible use. For „Recover“, Herma is presenting labels that are certified for both garden and industrial composting.
