Heidelberger Druckmaschinen (HEIDELBERG) is closing a gap in its own product portfolio with the launch of the Cartonmaster CX 145. The new large-format sheetfed offset press is aimed in particular at manufacturers of folding cartons in the food, beverage and consumer goods industries.
Heidelberg, June 2025 - Packaging remains a growth market. Folding cartons in the food, beverage and consumer goods segments in particular are seeing a steady increase in demand. With the introduction of the new model, HEIDELBERG aims to strategically expand its packaging range and position itself as a full-range supplier in folding carton production. „With our new Cartonmaster CX 145, HEIDELBERG is a full-range supplier for folding carton printing,“ explains Dr David Schmedding, Chief Technology & Sales Officer at HEIDELBERG. .

Integration into the digital ecosystem
The Cartonmaster CX 145 is based on the Roland Evolution 900 from manroland sheetfed, but will be fully integrated into the HEIDELBERG digital ecosystem, according to the company. This includes the connection to the Prinect workflow, but also the option to integrate it into systems from other providers. Customers can access machine performance data via the HEIDELBERG customer portal. .
The offering includes sales, installation, training, service and consumables. HEIDELBERG particularly emphasises the global service network, which is designed to guarantee short response times and local support - an aspect that is an important decision criterion in high-volume packaging printing.
Expansion of the packaging portfolio
According to HEIDELBERG, the new press closes the existing gap between the Speedmaster models in the 50 x 70 cm and 70 x 100 cm formats and the Boardmaster web-fed flexo press. HEIDELBERG already offers a wide range of solutions for folding carton printing and finishing, some of them in co-operation with partner companies. The portfolio is complemented by robotic solutions and a comprehensive lifecycle service.
The market launch of the Cartonmaster CX 145 is planned with immediate effect, with the first customer installations scheduled for 2026. According to HEIDELBERG, it expects the greatest demand in North America, Europe and China.
„By adding the Cartonmaster CX 145 to our portfolio, we want to emphasise our claim to be a system integrator for the end-to-end production of folding cartons,“ says Jürgen Otto, CEO of HEIDELBERG AG .
Packaging printing remains a strategic growth area
Packaging is a central part of HEIDELBERG's corporate strategy. By continuously expanding its portfolio in this area, the company aims to further strengthen its position in the growing market for packaging solutions.
