Other important players, including Coca Cola, Der Grüne Punkt, Greiner Packaging and Werner & Mertz, have joined the alliance.

The agile alliance #ForumRezyklat, which was founded by dm-drogerie markt in 2018, aims to promote the circular economy in order to conserve resources. Resource-saving and recyclable packaging is an elementary component of this.

Effective immediately, the new members - Coca-Cola, Der Grüne Punkt, Greiner Packaging, Kao, Morssinkhof-Rymoplast, Reifenhäuser Group and Werner & Mertz - are now contributing to the four expert groups formed by the forum in order to further establish a circular economy in the packaging sector.

„The #ForumRecyclate offers us the opportunity to take a holistic view of the topic of „recycling“ in the market and yet not lose sight of the various facets of the challenges faced by each member. We at Coca-Cola are delighted to be part of this strong network and to be able to contribute our expertise.
and to learn from others.“

Data exchange launched

Pioneering work has already been done on master data management in the # ForumRecyclate. To record the master data of a product, the data record was expanded to include information on post-consumer recyclate (PCR) in the packaging. Previously, manufacturers and suppliers throughout Germany were able to enter this information via the MARKANT database.

The expert group that is further developing and facilitating master data management can now announce another milestone. The specification of data for PCR is
is now part of the German target market profile maintained by GS1 Germany for GDSN - Global Data Synchronisation Network.

This means that a standardised, automatically processable data basis for the proportion of recycled material in packaging has now been created both nationally and internationally, which can also be used for extended shelf labelling. This represents an enormous development, especially for internationally active producers. Companies that are not involved in the forum can also determine the PCR content of a product's packaging via GDSN
to enter.
