Finnish manufacturer Huhtamaki packs coloured eggs without plastic and launches the first 100% plastic-free egg carton for boiled, coloured eggs in European markets.
In spring they are called Easter eggs, the rest of the year „snack eggs“. Boiled and dyed eggs are now part of the permanent range at most discounters and supermarkets all year round. In Germany in particular, they are still a popular snack and an addition to lunch or dinner. More than 80 million packs are sold every year.
The Futuro boxes from the Finnish manufacturer Huhtamaki are made from post-consumer recycled fibres and can be disposed of in waste paper in Germany or composted in an industrial composting plant.
The new flapless design also makes the cartons 10 % lighter than traditional fibre cartons, reducing their environmental footprint. The patented design also allows consumers to see the eggs on the shelves.
Moos-Butzen will be the first company to use Futuro egg cartons for its products with immediate effect.
