Since the last interpack in 2017, packaging has evolved in terms of sustainable materials. In addition, regulations became more concrete and binding. For food producers sustainable packaging will become the new standard. Torsten Sauer, Director Sustainability at Syntegon has a more detailed look at the packaging machinery handling these new materials. What are the specific challenges producers face and how can Syntegon help to overcome these.
Packaging machines must be more precise and accurate to work in the smaller window of operation sustainable materials usually provide – especially in terms of sealing but also folding and forming.
