ReUse or Recycling?

The recycling of packaging materials is currently the focus for many companies. But what is actually going on with reuse? Among other things, we talked about this with packaging designer Uwe Melichar at interpack.

For a better future of packaging, we talk a lot about recyclability, renewable materials, recycling and biodegradability. It’s all about material and its reuse. But what if we could extend the life of packaging? It requires less material, less energy, relieves our environment and has less negative impact on our climate.

A steep thesis that can be proven by various examples, says Uwe Melichar, Managing Partner MELICHAR Bros, Vice-President of the European Brand & Packaging Design Association (epda). And he thinks: We have to rethink packaging as such.
