Better packaging tape for e-commerce

H.B. Fuller Company announced that it has entered a strategic partnership in North America with Enimac, an international tape application equipment manufacturer that serves over 100 customers in more than 30 countries. The agreement brings together specialists from both companies, who effectively combine their market and application expertise with advanced knowledge on pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes to support the growing e-commerce packaging industry.

HEMP, A TRENDING MATERIAL?

Hemp is one of the oldest crop plants in the world. The fibres of the stalk were made into ropes, the seeds produced culinary oil, and the leaves and flowers yielded essential oil. Even 2,000 years ago, hemp fibres were used to make paper, before they were replaced by cheaper wood fibres. Today, hemp is back: as paper for packaging and labels, but also as sustainable pulp moulded pallets or naturally grown mycelium packaging.

DEPOSIT SYSTEMS FOR COSMETICS PACKAGING?

In Germany, deposit systems for beverage bottles have been around for some time now: once a bottle is empty, it is taken to the local supermarket, where it is inserted into a reverse vending machine and returned to the cycle. This system is just one of the reasons why Germany is considered a pioneer when it comes to recycling. Again and again, discussions arise on how we can use deposit systems to ensure other products and packaging stay in the cycle longer. A Berlin start-up has taken up this idea, initially implementing it in a pilot project: Circleback, a deposit system for cosmetics packaging.

Collaboration achieves circular cosmetics packaging concept

Moving circular plastic packaging forward. In a first and unique collaboration for the Personal Care industry, Clariant, Siegwerk, Borealis, and Beiersdorf are combining expertise to tackle the challenge of creating recyclable consumer packaging, based on 100% retrieved plastic packaging waste, for cosmetics applications. The pioneering initiative, named "Design4Circularity", is providing innovations and insights for the different design aspects to encourage others to also follow design for circularity principles.

Mondi wins Swiss Packaging Award for sustainability

Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, has been recognised by the Swiss Packaging Institute (SVI) for its RetortPouch Recyclable solution. The packaging won the Swiss Packaging Award for the Sustainability category and was developed for Coop’s private label range of healthy pulses and grains sold in Switzerland.
