Better packaging tape for e-commerce

H.B. Fuller Company announced that it has entered a strategic partnership in North America with Enimac, an international tape application equipment manufacturer that serves over 100 customers in more than 30 countries. The agreement brings together specialists from both companies, who effectively combine their market and application expertise with advanced knowledge on pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes to support the growing e-commerce packaging industry.

Hanf gehört zu den ältesten Nutzpflanzen der Welt. Aus den Fasern der Stängel wurden Seile gefertigt, aus den Samen Speiseöl, aus Blättern und Blüten ätherisches Öl gewonnen. Und schon vor über 2.000 Jahren nutzte man Hanffasern zur Herstellung von Papier, bevor sie durch die günstigeren Holzfasern ersetzt wurden. Jetzt kehrt Hanf zurück: in Form von Verpackungs- und Etikettenpapieren, aber auch in nachhaltigen Fasergusspaletten oder gewachsenen Myzelverpackungen.

Zahlreiche Start-ups versuchen sich an Alternativen zu herkömmlichem Kunststoff. Teil dieser Gruppe sind die Hannoveraner Gründer Fabian Solf, Steven Widdel und Christopher Feist. Unter der Marke Papair hat das Trio eine Luftpolsterdämmung entwickelt, die zu 100 Prozent aus Recyclingpapier besteht und bereits zum Patent angemeldet wurde.

Hemp is one of the oldest crop plants in the world. The fibres of the stalk were made into ropes, the seeds produced culinary oil, and the leaves and flowers yielded essential oil. Even 2,000 years ago, hemp fibres were used to make paper, before they were replaced by cheaper wood fibres. Today, hemp is back: as paper for packaging and labels, but also as sustainable pulp moulded pallets or naturally grown mycelium packaging.
